Horse Tack for Sale
I always thought halters were. Just wondering what most people will buy quite a bit of. I have an oportunity to sell bulk of horse tack items and wondering what I should get that would sell best. Maybe more of the grooming end? I dont know, what do you think? Thanks.

Hmm i always seem to have too many halters and leads cause they come in so many different colors. I see a unique on and i just have to have it. Also i love to buy brushes and have way too many of them. Oh and i have thousands of bows and rubber bands to decorate my horses mane and tail.

Most people will buy halters and leadropes because they are cheap and can be an impulse buy, or they can get lost easily, or snap. Loaners will buy halters and lead ropes too whereas they wouldn’t buy something like tack. Grooming brushes might be a good idea although they last quite a long time so you will probably only have one or two sets whereas you could have 10+ halters.

It is hard to think of only a few specific things, so here is a pretty good list of things you should have if you own a horse.
Halter, leadropes, brushes, combs, hoofpicks, headstalls, saddles and blankets for people who ride. Also feed, feed supplements and wormers.

I have an addiction to high quality tack at bargain prices, but it’s not really something most people would buy a lot of. I’m thinking brushes, bell boots, saddle pads, etc. And if you could step away from strictly tack, everyone at my barn buys their horses LOTSSSS of treats!

I’m going to go with leads, since those seem to grow legs and walk off more frequently than halters do (meaning you need to replace them, and often!) Grooming supplies are pretty universal too, though some people prefer the cheap kinds while others only buy the $50 imported hair dandy brushes. Leads, on the other hand, are all pretty much the same no matter who uses them.

Probably halters and lead ropes. There are so many different colors, sizes, types, materials, ect. I know we have about 2 or more for every horse at the barn. Even though we probably don’t need them. It’s always good to have an extra, just in case of they break. Not to mention, they are used often, and can wear out.

I’d say hoof picks because every horse needs them, doesn’t matter if they’re English, Western, shod or unshod. Plus we always buy at least five of them at a time to put in brush boxes, first aid kits, the truck and trailer, etc. I swear they grow legs and walk off because I’m constantly replacing them in my brush box.

I lose my brushes all the time so I think it’s good to have a lot of those. And lead ropes. Somethign always seems to happen to them. And saddle pads. There always seems to be a reason to have more.

Hmm – leadropes ( and the replacement clips to put on them ) they always seem to have a hard life – getting left out in the weather and used for tying stuff to cars etc.
Hoofpicks because these always seem to stick around for a month or so and then migrate never top be seen again. ( I should have about 20 of those things by now – I can find 2 !)
Various brushes and grooming supplies as there never seems to be enough to go around.
Numnahs and saddle pads
All the colour coded stuff that the kids like to have – bit rings, boots, bell boots, stirrup treads, martingale stops etc
Gloves – we get through tons of them somehow.

After more than 25 years of horse ownership I have a whole lot of tack and seldom have to buy anything new. If there is anything, tack wise, it would probably be a snaffle bits or a western show bit every few years. I do buy dewormer, fly spray, mane and tail detangler, MTG, vet wrap and medical supplies regularly….

High end fly spray like Endure or Happy Horse. Thats the cheapist thing a horse owner will ever need!

Things that are consumable that way people will return to buy more. Clipper blades, Shampoo, ShowSheen etc…
That said horse people love “horse things” especially if you can find a way to personalize them.
