English Horse Saddles
I just sat in a english saddle i like it more than western saddles. The horse i will be riding is a gypsy vanner and i dont plan on doing any competition like jumping or dressage i just like the english saddles because i think their more comfortabe and less bulky. Can anyone tell me a brand to look at or a type, something?

Since you won’t be competing, a Wintec AP saddle might be your best bet. They are cheap, can fit a large viarty of horses, and fairly comfortable.

well i have an ovation. had it for around 10 years, still in mint condition. It is the MOST comfortable saddle i have EVER sat in.

the first one might be better (price wise).
hope this helps

Since you’re not competing you don’t need one of the $2,000 ones. I would get a Wintec AP, or a Thorowgood.
Ovation, HDR, Bates, Pessoa are all decent brands. Collegiate is ok too.

I have a Henri de Rivel. I love it! My horse has high withers, so the fact that the saddle fits him is pure luck! It depends on your price because they are about $800.
On Wintecs, I would steer clear. I really do not like them. Synthetic… Ick.

I use a Wintec AP for just riding around at home and I love it.its very comfortable, easy to clean, and you can get the gullet change system so you can use it on horses of different sizes and builds.hope this helps:)

Dressage Saddles are the funky long black ones. You could buy one, but they’re expensive.

Close Contacts are jumping saddles. They are perfect for jumping, but very uncomfortable when working on the flat with longer stirrups.

All Purpose saddles are a hybrid of Close Contacts and Dressage saddles. You really o want a CC because they are comfortable for flat, and you can do some jumping, too.

I’m now going to list a new synthetic and a new leather for each type. Then I’m going to list used. I also found some saddle packages.
All Purpose:
New Synthetic: http://www.statelinetack.com/item/next-gen-wintec-500-ap-saddle-flocked/SLT901402/
I happen to think that this saddle is my favourite. I have one, and I love it. Great price, too.

Another really good price, but slightely cheap. And the reviews seem to overall really like it. Not leather, but looks like it.
New Leather: http://www.statelinetack.com/item/ovation-evolution-jumping-saddle/SLT901769/
It’s technically a jumping saddle, but the angles of it look more like a all purpose masquerading as a close contact. It’s a bit expensive, though.

I looks nice, but I don’t like the girth, at all
Used Synthetic: http://cgi.ebay.ca/English-Jumping-All-purpose-Saddle-synthetic-16-inch-/400087112153?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d270cd9d9
I’m assuming that it’s used, but personally, I’m not a big fan.
Used Leather: Hmm, I can’t find any
Package: Same….
